How do fuel operated heaters work? They heat the cold coolant from your engine’s block to 160° F in as little as one hour, then pump it back to the vehicle’s engine and heat exchangers. The result: Your engine is preheated and the vehicle’s heat exchangers distribute an abundance of heat to the vehicle’s interior. Idle time is eliminated and emissions at start up are reduced, greatly reducing particulate matter sent into your DPF and DOC (extending the time between regeneration cycles and the life of your DPF).
How does this help your bus fleet? Webasto coolant heaters go to work before drivers arrive, preheating the coolant in the engine and eliminating cold start concerns. Webasto heaters defrost and defog windshields quickly, and provide excellent supplemental interior heat.
How are Webasto coolant heaters different than electric plug in heaters? They are totally different. The Webasto heater has an included circulation pump, runs on 12 volts and diesel fuel, uses as little as .08 gallons of fuel per hour, preheats your engine to approximately 160° F, in as little as one hour. There is no need to have electrified parking spaces in the lot for your buses.
